This pages features pickguards for some of the guitars manufactured by Hamer Guitars.
Hamer was founded in 1973 by Paul Hamer & Jol Danzig in Illinois. They were one of the first of the new generation of American guitar builders, using beautiful woods & offering unique features on their guitars when the rest of the industry was kind of stagnant. We first met Paul & Jol at the very fist Dallas, Tx Vintage Guitar show in 1980, another "first". They were offering these cool, flametop doublecut junior style guitars with string-thru-the-body hardtail bridges. We'd never seen anything like them! Their guitars were famously endosed by Rick Nielsen & Cheap Trick, Paul Stanley & Kiss, and many other great players. The company went through some changes & has been sold several times. We supplied pickguards to them for many years & still have the original tooling for many of their models. Jol Danzig is very talented & extremely smart and has always been a pleasure to work with. He summed up their concept in one simple sentence: "Instead of trying to make something for everyone, make everything for someone". No one could have said it better!
